Christina M. Lejkowski has been selected to the prestigious position of Ambassador for the Alliance of the Great Lakes. As an Ambassador, Ms. Lejkowski will act as a representative of the Alliance of the Great Lakes to inform the community about various issues facing the Great Lakes. Particular concerns of the Alliance include furthering the 2021 Federal Policy Priorities with the Biden Administration and U.S. Congress.
The 2021 Federal Policy Priorities include: 1) Prioritizing Environmental Justice by supporting the Biden Administration following the reinstatement and funding of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Environmental Justice; 2) Increase Drinking Water Funding and Ceasing Water Shutoffs by supporting the Biden Administration and encouraging the public to donate to residential water utility assistance programs for areas of low income and areas affected by racial disparity; 3) Supporting the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative by assisting the government to ensure that the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative funds are used to address environmental equity and climate change; 4) Support the government in Funding Efforts to Stop Invasive Asian Carp and encourage primary funding for the Brandon Road Lock and Dam Project by the Federal Government; and 5) Address Agricultural Pollution such as Harmful Algal Blooms by encouraging accountability from Farm Bill conservation program participants.
Ms. Lejkowski looks forward to acting as an Ambassador for the Alliance of the Great Lakes!
